Welcome
to the first edition of FYI online!
As mentioned in the February issue, to conserve financial and staff resources
LIRS has decided to produce FYI in an online format. Use the links under
"Contents" on the left side of this page to navigate among the
articles in this issue. Most features will be familiar to regular readers.
"Focus on Partners" will now consist
of two-three shorter articles per issue rather than one longer, in-depth
piece. "Resources" is a new feature
we hope will allow us and our partners to share news about available print,
video and online resources. Unfortunately, our plans to continue "Out
and About," which reported staff travel, were not tenable, so that
feature has been dropped.
We welcome your feedback on the
design or content of this or any issue of FYI. Send your comments to fyi@lirs.org.
Use that address also to subscribe to the e-mail list for regular reminders
of new issues of FYI.

Please note: FYI online utilizes programming
code that older web browsers may not be able to read.
For best results in viewing these pages (and the
rest of the Internet!), I recommend version 4.0 or higher
of Internet Explorer. I've worked out most of the problems with
version 4 of Netscape, but there are still a few quirks.
If you have anything older than version 4 of either
browser, you will not be able to view these pages properly. Even
older hardware should support version 4, though they may not support
newer versions.
Click
here for more information about downloading Netscape Communicator
4.79. (I was unable to find Internet Explorer 4 on Microsoft's website.
If anyone knows if that is available for download, please e-mail
me.)
If you are unsure what version you have, click
on the "Help" menu, and then click on "About [Name
of Your Browser]" (see image below).
My apologies to those who have had trouble viewing
the newsletter. I am learning as I go along and will do my best
to make FYI as accessible as possible for as many readers as possible.
Please continue to e-mail me with
any problems. Thank you for your patience.
