article on Mexican
economic migrants.
After the Atlanta
Journal-Constitution solicited reader opinions on U.S. refugee
policy, it printed comments by several LIRS staff members in a May 8 "Reader
Opinions" column. Those quoted were Director for Ambassadors Circle
Denise Laugtug, Director for Church Relations Liz Senft
and Case Manager for International Social ServiceUSA Branch Annick
Barker.

Times quoted LIRS Policy Advocate Merritt Becker and noted
LIRS's role in seeking the support of Rep.
Darrell Issa, R-Calif., for the Unaccompanied Alien Child Protection
Act.
In a May 22 article about the decline in U.S. refugee
admissions, the Minneapolis Star
Tribune directed readers to the LIRS website for more information
about the Lutheran refugee resettlement program.
Acting LIRS President Annie Wilson authored an
op-ed
that appeared in the June 20 issue of the Baltimore Sun. The article
commemorated World Refugee Day and urged full restoration of the U.S.
refugee resettlement program.
