On June 6 the U.S. Committee for Refuges released World Refugee Survey 2002, which details the more than 37 million people who were uprooted in 2001, including 15 million refugees and 22.5 million internally displaced persons, and also addresses the impact of September 11 on refugees. Copies of the 290-page survey may be ordered at www.refugees.org. The text of the survey is also available on the site.

Solidarity USA hosts a call-in legal program on Tuesdays, 10-11 a.m., on WUST-AM 1120 in Washington, D.C. The program, which is geared toward Muslims and Arabs living in the United States, responds to listener questions regarding immigration cases, civil rights, criminal or family law and accidental or work-related injury, and hosts guest experts on these issues.

The American Friends Service Committee has released a new documentary video, "Echando Raices/Taking Root: Immigrant and Refugee Communities in California, Texas, and Iowa," that addresses immigrant realities and the struggle for rights with perspectives from immigrants, scholars, activists, local officials and displaced workers. English and Spanish versions are available along with supporting materials. Ordering information is available at www.takingroot.org.

Migration Policy Institute recently launched the Migration Information Source, an online resource for timely and accurate data and analysis on migration and refugee issues. The website at www.migrationinformation.org provides an easy-to-use database that presents data with clear graphs and charts and concise explanations along with expert analysis and public policy reporting.

The Catholic Legal Immigration Network Inc. (CLINIC) and Migration and Refugee Services of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops are sponsoring "The Conference on Government Policies, Practices and National Security Since September 11, 2001 and the Impact on Immigrants, Migrants and Refugees" on October 21 at Georgetown University Law School in Washington, D.C. Additional information on this event will be posted at www.cliniclegal.org when it becomes available.
