LIRS in the News

LIRS Director for Asylum and Immigration Concerns Matt Wilch was quoted in an August 14 Village Voice article by Alisa Solomon on immigrant incarcerations.

For many months, LIRS communications has provided strategic support for the refugee resettlement crisis. The goal is to increase community awareness and marshal grass roots support.

In May we coordinated a national and local media event for Refugee Council USA and produced materials for local affiliate use, generating at least 26 print feature stories and editorials plus TV and radio interviews on the continuing refugee resettlement crisis.

For Labor Day, LIRS communications worked with to generate positive media stories of refugees in America’s work force and to recognize the employers who hire them. LIRS provided the activity idea and support materials needed for the activity. Some 20 LIRS affiliates identified successful employees and employers willing to participate and coordinated media visits and feature stories on or around August 28. If you saw or heard a refugee-oriented Labor Day story—TV, radio or print—think LIRS!
