When you give to LIRS, you share your blessings with those whose
lives we touch each and every day:

elder from Burma who languished in a refugee camp in Thailand for over 16
years;
- A
mother who fled Sudan with her five children to escape war and violence;
- A
15-year-old boy from Guatemala who crossed the desert on foot to find his
mother in New York;
- The
family of a Lutheran pastor in Minnesota, a U.S. citizen, whose immigrant
wife was detained and nearly deported after a visit to her home country;
- An
asylum seeker from China who was brutally tortured for promoting democracy.
LIRS is a ministry run with efficiency and integrity. We rely on strong
partnerships with our donors and volunteers and are committed to transparency on all levels. Of
every dollar we spend, only one penny is used for fundraising, just 9 cents
goes to administrative expenses for our staff nationwide, and 90 cents
goes to serving vulnerable newcomers. We keep costs and expenses low so that we
can make the most difference in as many lives as possible.
