LIRS Action-a-Month Challenge

Participate in a year's worth of welcome, take the LIRS action-a-month challenge. Devote time once a month to welcoming newcomers in your community. Use one of our suggestions or create your own. Don't forget to share with us what you and your communities are doing to extend a hand of welcome!

 

1. Find signs of welcome in your community and celebrate them with an article in your local paper   



2. Include refugees and immigrants as decision makers in your ministry or business



3. Host the In Search of Welcome exhibit at your church and share the LIRS vision with your community



4. Visit an asylum seeker in detention                                                                                                                                                                         


5. Mentor a refugee in language or job skills



6. Organize 6 people to donate furniture to a refugee family



7. Post about LIRS weekly on your Facebook and Twitter pages



8. Show an LIRS video to a church or community group and invite them to make welcome their mission



9. Lead a local fundraising challenge



10. Share e-Alerts from the LIRS Action Center with at least 5 people



11. Bring a group to meet with your member of Congress about refugee and immigrant concerns 



12. Lead a Bible study to raise awareness of refugee and immigrant issues
