Access to Justice Unit

The LIRS access to justice unit promotes access to the justice system, immigration benefits, and legal protection to immigrants and refugees, with particular attention to the most vulnerable, such as asylum seekers, torture survivors and those in immigration detention. We work to ensure the highest quality legal service delivery by our partners and affiliates nationwide through training and the promotion of creative models and approaches. The LIRS access to justice unit works very closely with others in the agency and with partners to promote systemic improvements in the treatment of immigrants and refugees upon their arrival in the United States. We provide a link between local service providers and governement agencies in Washington in order to advocate on behalf of the most vulnerable.
