We’re glad to see Jonathan Lucus quoted in the Baltimore Business Journal’s article on the National Immigrant Integration Conference (NIIC 2012).

Lucus, Director for Refugee and Immigrant Self-Sufficiency at the LIRS program Higher, was interviewed by Sarah Meehan for her September 21 article “Baltimore to Host National Immigration Conference.” The article taps his expertise on how attracting immigrants is a strategy employed by urban areas aiming for economic revitalization. Baltimore, which hosts this year’s conference, is one city that targets recruiting immigrant citizens.

Higher provides newcomer workforce solutions to corporations across the United States while supporting career entry and advancement for resettled refugees and other new Americans.

NIIC 2012 is the largest national conference to bring together immigrant integration leaders and advocates from across the country. Presenters at the September 22-25 event include Fabio Lomelino, LIRS Project Director for Community Conversations, and Megan Bremer, LIRS Interim Director for Access to Justice.

You can learn more about how immigrants and refugees can benefit businesses and communities by checking out the Higher blog’s latest post by Lucus, “Diversity and the Value Add to Employers.”
