Be an Advocate is one of four modules in LIRS’s Be Not Afraid project. The project is a set of tools designed to assist congregations serving immigrants as they seek to reduce fear and create welcoming communities through education and advocacy. The tools in the Be an Advocate module help congregations speak up for fair and humane immigration policies and mobilize others to advocate, as well.
You can promote immigration advocacy within your community or congregation through simple acts like these:

Plan an immigration awareness event such as one of these:
Form an immigration taskforce:
Join Stand For Welcome: LIRS Advocacy with Migrants and Refugees, and invite others to join. Together we can work to create laws and policies that welcome newcomers and treat all migrants and refugees with dignity.
When you complete a simple act of immigration advocacy, let us know so we can celebrate with you. To tell us your story, share your ideas and encourage other advocates, write to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
