A Long Legacy of Welcome

Compassion.

It’s what we’re all about.

For 80 years, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) has been a champion for refugees and migrants from around the globe. We compassionately serve the most vulnerable as they rebuild their lives in America.

At a time of unprecedented crisis, these newcomers need our help more than ever. Learn more about our work and how you can make a difference today.

A Refugee Family's Journey

Driven by our faith and our nation’s values, LIRS carries out a wide range of programs to provide holistic, trauma-informed, and age-appropriate care to the vulnerable individuals we serve.

Refugees are ____________.

LEADERS. We know this because so many have demonstrated it through their participation in LIRS‘ Migrant and Refugee Leadership Academy. Learn more about how we prepare these advocates to serve their communities and champion compassionate policy solutions.

Hope for the Holidays

In an effort to bring hope to thousands of detained migrants, we invite you to join our Hope for the Holidays campaign. The program collects cards and gifts for distribution at migrant detention centers and shelters across the country, reminding individuals and families that they are not forgotten during the holiday season.

ADVOCATE

Advocate

Help us advocate for compassionate public policy solutions to help the most vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers rebuild their lives in America. When we raise our voice as one, we can make a real difference for generations to come.

Small gifts. BIG impact.

Your contribution, however small, makes a big difference in the lives of the most vulnerable. It provides basic necessities and vital integration services like English classes, cultural orientation, medical care and more. It provides safe and loving care for unaccompanied migrant children. And it allows LIRS to advocate for common-sense, compassionate public policy at a time of unprecedented need.
