DREAMers Face AZ Gov. Brewer’s ‘Denial of Benefits’ Order; DACA off to Smooth Start

Published On: Donate

LIRS applauds the Wednesday kick-off of the Obama Administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) process. At the same time, we deplore Arizona Governor Jan Brewer’s new executive order denying state and local public benefits to young undocumented immigrants who are eligible for deferred action.

We do our best to raise our voice on these issues, as we did yesterday with “AZ Gov. Brewer’s ‘Denial of Benefits’ Order Prolongs Immigration Problems; Smooth Start to DACA Points to Solutions,” and the Spanish version, “AZ Gobernadora Jan Brewer prolonga los problemas de inmigración; DACA promueve soluciones.”

To learn more on the latest DACA developments, see the timely information on deferred action (updated August 16) from the National Immigration Forum.

Also, check out the excellent FAQ on deferred action developed by the National Immigration Law Center (NILC) and United We Dream.
