Book Launch: They Are Us with Pastor Stephen Bouman
February 23, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service for an evening celebrating the national book launch of the second edition of They Are Us: Lutherans and Immigration with Pastor Stephen Bouman.
Pastor Bouman will share his experience writing the book, stories of the incredible people he has met, and reflections on how much things have changed since the first edition. As he has observed with co-author Ralston Deffenbaugh (President of LIRS, 1991 – 2009), immigration has become an even more contentious issue in society and the church than it was when the book was first published ten years ago, and immigrants are much more vulnerable, misunderstood, and mistreated than ever before.
About They Are Us: Through stories of crisis and hope, They Are Us helps Christian communities understand themselves and their ministries as part of God’s narrative of love and hospitality for the little, the lost, the last, and the least. These stories show there is no greater power to unite our angry, divided, and fearful church and society than the presence of the crucified and risen Christ among us.
