H.R. 6429 Falls Short of Solutions; LIRS Calls for Federal Immigration Reform

Published On: Donate

I’d like to make sure you know where LIRS stands on an important piece of legislation scheduled to come up for vote today in the U.S. House of Representatives.

We’re worried about H.R. 6429, the STEM Jobs Act of 2012, because of flaws in its short-term approach and its inability to deliver long-term solutions that would be best achieved through comprehensive federal immigration reform. If this bill is passed, we’ll face greater challenges in our day-to-day work.

In case you missed the press release on our website yesterday, here it is: “H.R. 6429 Falls Short of Solutions; LIRS Calls for Federal Immigration Reform.”

Thank you for checking out the press release, and, as always, for standing with immigrants and refugees!
