Immigration Reform Debate Begins Today in House, So Make Your Voice Heard! — National Action Alert

button_icon_national_alert2After years of working for immigration reform, the pivotal moments to speak out have finally begun arriving!

Today marks one of those critical moments. The House of Representatives is joining the debate on comprehensive immigration reform. Following last week’s announcements from the Senate  and President Obama, the House Judiciary Committee will today hold the first hearing on immigration in the 113th Congress.

The hearing, “America’s Immigration System: Opportunities for Legal Immigration and Enforcement of Laws Against Illegal Immigration,” will examine immigration enforcement and the balance between employment-based and family-based immigration. The witnesses will include academics, policy experts and San Antonio’s Mayor Julian Castro. An important opportunity to speak out in support of the family-based immigration system.

I invite you to join me in advocacy to ensure that our representatives hear from us today. Call (202) 224-3121 to speak to your two representatives, or visit the LIRS Action Center  to tell your elected officials that people of faith want humane immigration legislation  that keeps families together.
