We need your help to ensure that Lutheran voices for compassionate immigration reform are heard today!
Our nation is once again focusing on immigration reform. As we reported in yesterday’s THE UPDATE, last week more than 600 conservative leaders from around the nation traveled to Washington, D.C. to meet with their representatives and advance immigration reform.
Increasingly, members of the House of Representatives are speaking out in favor of creating a functional immigration system. I’m proud to say that LIRS is joining other faith-based organizations belonging to the Interfaith Immigration Coalition in a letter-a-day campaign urging the House to pass legislation that truly welcomes migrants and refugees.
Today, November 5, LIRS will contact all members of the House to let them know that Lutherans stand for fair and compassionate immigration reform. Working in union with our interfaith partners, Members of Congress will hear from faith-based organizations every day for the next three weeks about the need for just immigration reform that unites families. To make sure that Lutheran voices for compassionate reform are heard, we need your help today.
Our message is clear: The time is now for the House to enact fair and humane immigration laws that work for migrants, refugees, and America.
To add your voice to LIRS’s, call your representative through the Capitol Switchboard at (202) 224-3121 or tweet at him or her. You can also take action online at the LIRS Action Center. I pray that our lawmakers heed our call and find the will and the courage to reform our immigration laws to better welcome migrants and refugees.
