Where: LIRS DC Advocacy Office & Capitol Hill
Description:
Join LIRS and LSS-NCA advocates as we visit the offices of newly elected Members of the 116th Congress. The freshman class, one of the largest in history with over 100 new members, will be sworn in on January 3, 2019. This is a great opportunity to meet Capitol Hill staff that will be informing new legislators on refugee and immigration issues that are important to us.
What can you expect visits to be like on this day? Swearing-in day visits are about building relationships and introducing yourself and the organization you represent as a resource of information. There is a festive mood on the Hill and it is a great time to congratulate new Members of Congress and their staff. Office visits are not scheduled in advance and participants do not engage in in-depth issue or policy-driven conversations.
