LIRS has many partners that don’t receive enough recognition or support for their crucial work. Last week, we officially announced $10K in grants to nine organizations running visitation programs. These dedicated partners support people who have been harmed by our broken immigration system, and end up in detention as a result.
We would simply love to celebrate their vital contributions: So many people receive the vital support of friendship, counsel, and dignity from the work of these folks. Below are the nine organizations that have been awarded this new funding.
Santa Isabel Lutheran Church – Elizabeth, NJ
Interfaith Coalition on Immigration – New Brighton, MN
Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod – Houston, TX
El Refugio Visitation Program, Alterna – LaGrange, GA
Lutheran Social Services of Georgia – Atlanta, GA
Pueblo de Esperanza – Baltimore, MD
St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church – San Diego, CA
La Frontera Ministries International Inc. – San Antonio, TX
Cristo Rey Lutheran Church, East Moline, IL
We can’t say enough how crucial these wonderful folks are to the mission of LIRS, and we are endlessly appreciative of them!
