O God, the heritage of nations belongs to you and your Spirit fills the earth. Walk with our siblings who have fled all that they have known to escape war and violence, risked everything for hope, and continue to face barriers and even death for a taste of new life. Give strength to all who work to bring compassion and justice for immigrants, refugees, and other migrants struggling to navigate borders and complex judicial systems. You called a people to be your own and yet you have shown limitless love and mercy to people of every nation. Open our hearts so that, like you, we welcome the stranger in our midst. Guide our elected officials so that they reflect your faithfulness and uprightness in their work for all people. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
