I’m pleased to write that earlier today, President Obama called for a review of immigration enforcement policies to ensure their humane use.
We at LIRS have long advocated for humane and just enforcement of immigration laws as part of our principles for immigration reform. We are encouraged to hear the President join us in calling for enforcement that observes our values of respect for human dignity.
The White House will also hear from immigration advocates during a meeting this afternoon. We hope President Obama will emerge from the meeting with a commitment to our biblical call to walk alongside migrants and stand for welcome.
