button_icon_national_alert2S.744 isn’t going to pass itself. We all know that just when you think Congress is coming to an agreement, the unforeseen can erupt and put everything up for grabs.

That’s why today, I’m summing up our S.744 knowledge to help you raise your voice in your own congressional district and state. That’s where the fate of immigration reform will be decided.

Where things stand: The Senate Judiciary Committee last week voted 13-5 to pass S.744, and the bill could reach the full Senate in a matter of days. I hope you can put the tools listed below to good use at this critical moment.

  • The LIRS comprehensive immigration reform page contains just about every detail about S.744, including in-depth analyses of provisions in key areas such as family unity and the roadmap to citizenship.
  • Immigration Reform 2013: THE UPDATE is a blog series appearing here each Monday in English and Spanish. It contains insights into the legislative process from experts with decades of experience working on Capitol Hill.
  • Top Picks of the Immigration and Refugee Blogosphere gathers the best reform commentary from across the Web, and in recent months this weekly blog series (now running on Fridays) has showcased posts by policy experts, activists, and faith leaders.
  • The LIRS Action Center, which is constantly updated to reflect the most important legislative challenges and opportunities, allows you to craft powerful letters and send them to your senators and representatives.
  • National Action Alerts appear every Tuesday on this blog. Recently, they’ve focused on getting S.744 passed.
  • A round-up of important press coverage runs each Thursday in this blog’s HEADLINES series.
  • LIRS’s interviews with everyone from policy-makers to grassroots activists put a human face on the day-to-day struggle for justice through immigration reform.

Last week’s S.744 win in the Senate Judiciary Committee would not have been possible without your voice. Thank you for your commitment to Stand for Welcome, and for everything you’re doing in your community to push forward towards fair and compassionate immigration reform!
