Volunteer | LIRS

Every day, our community of volunteers from around the country dedicate their time to welcoming new neighbors and educating their community members or congregations on issues related to migration and refugees. Simply put, the work of LIRS would be impossible without volunteers.

You can get involved by connecting with one of our local network partners, reaching out to migrants in detention, or hosting an event or Bible Study in your church or community.  Fill out our volunteer contact form.

“Our family has developed a passion for inviting others in, and encouraging our friends to do so as well. We’ve learned so much in the way of hospitality from our new Somali neighbors.  In sharing smiles and stories, food and friendship, this harsh world becomes a bit more kind and the fear of the unknown other we once had quickly dissipates.”

– Lisa and Mike, volunteers in 2017-2018

Volunteer in Your Community

LIRS works with close to 50 different community agencies nationwide to serve refugees, migrants, and children in need of our support. With a little bit of coordination, we can help you connect with an LIRS partner in your area.
