The LIRS Young Professionals Council is a dynamic group of socially conscious young professional leaders (age 21-35) motivated to bring awareness to the mission of LIRS and to serve immigrants and refugees through fundraising, networking, and volunteer activities geared towards fellow young professionals.
Serving as advocates and ambassadors for LIRS, the Young Professionals Council (YPC) are individuals who have expressed a strong commitment to serving immigrants, refugees, and unaccompanied migrant children while furthering the mission of LIRS for a minimum of a one-year term (renewable twice for a possible total of 3 years).
Members of the Young Professionals Council will have opportunities to attend social events, be given the tools and opportunities to plan and host fundraising events in order to support LIRS, have access to other professionals and leaders to further grow their network, and be immersed in the work of welcoming newcomers with LIRS.

Frequently Asked Questions
No! We are looking for rockstar individuals across the entire country with different backgrounds, professions, and personalities. In the inaugural year of the Council, majority of meetings and gatherings will be held virtual.
We recognize the life of a young professional is busy. Adding a new responsibility onto your plate may seem daunting and impossible. We would like to reassure you that the time spent in the Young Professionals Council is time spent learning, growing, and networking. Your membership in the YPC lasts for one fiscal year, with option to renew. Month to month, time commitments will vary. We ask that you attend virtual orientation sessions in October, plan/host at least one fundraising event throughout the year, attend the Annual Gathering, and take time to post on social media.
Anything! We encourage and welcome different opinions and backgrounds in the YPC. Though the majority of the learning opportunities will be based on non-profit work and refugee resettlement, we believe each member of the YPC has something special to add to the group.
